For a subtropical climate, most days in Cozumel are on the warmer side. The average yearly temperature is around 27°C - 80°F with humidity ranging from 58% - 95%. The warm, sunny climate is the perfect backdrop for a Caribbean vacation.
Cozumel Mexico weather doesn’t change drastically throughout the year. The winter and the spring in Cozumel are considered the most comfortable seasons: providing warm water, little rainfall and cool evenings. Temperatures this time of year typically range between 69°F and 82°F (21°C - 28°C). Most days during these seasons will be clear or partly cloudy and have calm to moderate breezes. It is also during this time that Cozumel can feel the occasional North wind or “nortes” as the locals refer to them; however an EXTREMELY cold day in Cozumel averages out around 54°F!
As the island nears the summer season, the temperatures and humidity increase gradually until their peak in August and September. During the “hot season” the average temperatures range between 77°F - 91°F (25°C - 33°C). With the increase in temperature and humidity comes the increase in afternoon clouds and thunderstorms. Although light to moderate rain is possible year round, generally September sees the most precipitation.
The quirky part about the weather in Cozumel is you can be basking in sun on one side of the street and it’s raining on the other side. That’s the beauty of the tropics! Typically, showers last about 30 minutes, then the sun peeks back out to say hello, leaving spectacular sunsets. Remember to check the Cozumel Weather Forecast and Cozumel Weather Map before packing for your trip, but you will definitely need your sunscreen!
